  • Policyholder means the person who enters into a funeral policy agreement with the Company.
  • Member means the Main Member and any approved dependants covered under the policy.
  • Beneficiary means the person nominated to receive policy benefits.
  • Policy means the funeral policy contract issued by Bathusi Ba Dichabachaba (Pty) Ltd.

3. Acceptance of Terms

6. Premium Payments

Failure to pay premiums may result in:

7. Waiting Periods

Waiting periods apply in accordance with your Policy Schedule and South African insurance regulations.

Generally:

  • Natural death claims may be subject to waiting periods.
  • Accidental death benefits may be payable immediately, subject to policy conditions.
  • Newly added members may also be subject to waiting periods.

The applicable waiting periods will be clearly stated in your Policy Schedule.

8. Policy Benefits

Benefits are payable only if:

  • The policy is active.
  • Premiums are fully paid.
  • The insured event falls within the terms of the policy.
  • Required documentation has been submitted.
  • The claim has been approved.

Benefit amounts are specified in the individual Policy Schedule.

9. Claims

Claims must be submitted together with the required supporting documentation, including where applicable:

  • Completed Claim Form
  • Certified copy of the deceased's Identity Document
  • Death Certificate
  • Medical Report (if required)
  • Police Report (for accidental deaths)
  • Proof of Banking Details
  • Any additional documentation requested by the Company

Bathusi Ba Dichabachaba (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to investigate any claim before payment.

10. Fraud and Misrepresentation

The Company will reject any claim or terminate any policy where fraud or dishonesty is identified.

Examples include:

  • False information
  • Forged documentation
  • Identity fraud
  • Non-disclosure of material facts
  • Fraudulent claims

Fraud may also be reported to law enforcement authorities.

11. Amendments

Policyholders may request changes to:

  • Beneficiaries
  • Dependants
  • Banking details

All amendments are subject to verification and approval.

12. Cancellation

The Policyholder may cancel the policy by providing written notice.
